Georgia Straight

Hey there, are you ready for Halloween?

If you live in my neighbourhood, that answer feels like a resounding yes. Half the houses in Kensington-Cedar Cottage are decked to the nines. We love to see it. There’s even one house with at least 100 different decorations, many of which pay homage to scary movie franchises. I stroll by most days with my five-year-old, and he has now started curating a list of films he’s excited to watch from the wreckage. What could go wrong?

Rick Hansen rolls with the punches in Man in Motion

When Rick Hansen was approached about making a documentary on his iconic Man in Motion World Tour, he had some conditions. “I said, ‘If you’re going to do it, I just want to make sure that you’re going to do it from the perspective of the reality of how hard it was and that it wasn’t me—it was we—it was the team," he explains in an interview with the Straight. "I didn’t want a glossy thing. We were in the struggle of our lives trying to make a difference, and it’s a miracle that it happened.”
