November 6, 2025: Meet Vancouver’s new hockey stars
Plus: The Vancouver concerts and shows you have to see in November
Hey there. Happy Thursday.
Another print issue of the Straight is here! This time, our cover stars are none other than Vancouver’s new hockey team. You can use our handy map to find your closest newsstand or rack. And, as ever, it’s totally free.
In other news, I’m going to be out of office for the next few weeks. Nathan will be taking over the newsletter; let me know which one of us makes more dad jokes.

Vancouver’s new PWHL team, the Goldeneyes, debuts later this month, with the home opener almost sold out. How Faye’s Room helped broaden Glitch Theatre’s horizons

Faye’s Room is a first for a lot of reasons: the premiere of Alex K. Masse’s first play, Glitch Theatre’s first mainstage production since 2019, and the company’s first play diving into neurodivergence. “Culturally, the period of explaining otherness is coming to an end,” muses Adam Grant Warren, Glitch Theatre’s co-artistic director.

For Belfast electro-punk pair Chalk, the best art is raw

The two members of Chalk met when they were studying film. Perhaps that’s why their music, while loud and brash, is so cinematic. “I feel like it's a way for each of us to express what we love,” explains Ross Cullen, one half of the duo, ahead of the band’s Biltmore Cabaret show on Friday.
