Hey there. I learned a new word this week: bombogenesis.

Bombogenesis—one of those fun meteorological words that we only learn about when it’s specifically happening to us—refers to the creation of a “bomb cyclone,” or when a storm rapidly strengthens. That’s what happened last night, as a low-pressure system over the Gulf of Alaska suddenly dropped a bunch of millibars.
