November 19 edition: John Horgan: the man, the legacy

Plus: Prince Harry, and Canada's best pizza

Acumen Law Corporation

Hey there. I learned a new word this week: bombogenesis.

Bombogenesis—one of those fun meteorological words that we only learn about when it’s specifically happening to us—refers to the creation of a “bomb cyclone,” or when a storm rapidly strengthens. That’s what happened last night, as a low-pressure system over the Gulf of Alaska suddenly dropped a bunch of millibars.

Stay warm, stay dry, and stay safe: storm season is here.

Commentary: Two years into ABC Vancouver, the vibes are not immaculate

Long-time politics reporter Keith Baldrey worked with John Horgan for over 30 years. That means he has no shortage of memories of the former BC premier, who died last week after a battle with cancer. It was “Horgan’s ability to transcend the trappings of politics and of the political office he held that endeared him to so many people,” Baldrey writes. “He was the proverbial ‘every man’ who everyone else could instantly relate to.”
