June 10 2025: The “Big One” looms
Plus: Dan Mangan looks for the light, and Eby and Carney cosy up
Hey there. We’ve got some news for you today.
If you’ve read the Georgia Straight recently, you’ve probably noticed we've been hard at work trying to give you an inside look at the city.
More local food stories. More bold opinions. More in-depth arts and culture pieces. More weird Vancouver shit. And a lot more of the kind of coverage you can’t find anywhere else.
Now, we’re getting ready to launch something new for our most dedicated readers: a membership program called Straight Insiders.
We’re not launching it today, but we want your help to shape it. Please take our one-minute survey and tell us what you’d actually want from a membership like this. Everyone who completes it will be entered into a draw to win free Straight merch.
Free event tickets? Exclusive content? Secret menu items around town? We have ideas—but we want to hear yours. You’ll also get first dibs when we open the doors.
Thanks for reading, and for sticking with us through the wild ride of Vancouver life. This city is complicated. We’re glad we get to cover it for you.
