How a non-profit network is making bike repair more accessible
It’s Vancouver: everyone here has a bicycle. But knowing how to tune it up or fix it can be challenging, when bike mechanics are largely bros. That’s why the Vancouver Community Bike Shop Network is running programs to help women, queer, and trans people repair their own bikes. “It does make a huge difference when you walk into a space,” explains Zoé Kruchten from UBC’s Bike Kitchen, “and you see yourself reflected back.”
